Prescriptions

If you have not downloaded the NHS APP  already, please do this as you can order and track your medication on it.

Repeat prescriptions should be ordered at a maximum of 10 days before you are due to run out. Please note that any urgent prescription requests will be signed by the end of the same day of making the request subject to review and approval by a clinician”

It takes five working days to process your prescription request.
When your prescription is sent to your chosen pharmacy please remember they will need time to dispense this.

N.B  Saturday and Sunday are not normal working days.

We are sending all prescriptions via EPS to your nominated pharmacy. Please indicate which pharmacy you wish to collect your prescription from on your request.

New medication prescribed by the hospital

If you have recently been given medication from hospital and will run out soon – Please book in for a telephone consultation with our Pharmacy Team who can assist you. Where possible, please provide our Reception team with a copy of the letter you were given by the hospital detailing the medication.

Prescription Charges

Extensive exemption and remission arrangements protect those likely to have difficulty in paying charges (NHS prescription and dental charges, optical and hospital travel costs).

The NHS prescription charge is a flat-rate amount which successive Governments have thought it reasonable to charge for those who can afford to pay for their medicines. Prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) offer real savings for people who need extensive medication.

Prescribing over the counter medicines

On Friday the 19th January we will be using Accurx triage for online communication with patients. This will be replacing eConsult. Most patients will have already used Accurx when receiving or responding to SMS messages. We are making this change in response to feedback.

Accurx allows you, as the patient, to describe in your own words how we can help you. It also allows the team to have a much more open dialogue, ask more relevant questions and direct you to the most appropriate service. Those not wishing to use online methods will still have the same access via the telephones or by visiting reception and will be asked similar questions.

We would like to thank you for your support and patience in the interim.
